these cables are not made by
Meade, they are a third party product, of very high quality, are
guaranteed for 1 year in normal use and have each been fully tested
before
despatch.
2metre long #505 type (or similar
looking LX200 #07047
type)
The #505 type is used for
Autostar #495 or #497 to PC serial (RS232) connection.
It
can also be used to connect accessories
to the Autostar, such as a GPS adaptor
The LX200 or #07047
type
is used for Autostar II or LX200 to PC serial (RS232) connection.
The connection of the PC to the Autostar
allows telescope control from a planetarium
program (e.g the excellent freeware Sky Charts / Cartes
du Ciel http://astrosurf.com/astropc/cartes/ )
or operating software and tour updates using ASU
(Meade web site)

6metre long #505 type (or similar
looking LX200 #07047
type)
The #505 type is used for

Other
lengths of serial connection cables
are easily possible. We can even supply Shielded Twisted
Pair (STP) cable for the longest runs. STP cable is not as
physically flexible as the
cable used for the above cables, but it is (electrically) the best
type of cable to use for a longer cable run. Contact Sales for a very

Sorry, but we cannot currently supply the #506 cable used
with the Autostar model #494.

long replacement 8 way HBX cable
Used to replace the 'curly' cable supplied
with Autostar #495 or #497
hand controller for the connection to the telescope base unit. This
cable allows you to be up to 6m away from the telescope but
still have control via the Autostar - Very useful with CCD
imaging on the telescope (e.g LPI or Pictor) Also available in
black.

Used to replace the 'curly' cable supplied
with Autostar ll
hand controller for the connection to the LX200 telescope base unit.
This
cable allows you to be up to 6m away from the telescope but
still have control via the Autostar ll - Very useful with CCD
imaging on the telescope (e.g LPI or Pictor).

2metre
long independent 12Volt power cable
Used
with the Autostar #495 or #497 hand controller. The cable allows
you to power the Autostar away from the 'scope whilst you backup your
Autostar settings or update the Autostar software with Autostar Update
(free download from Meade web site ) or
up or down load tours to the hand controller etc. - For protection, the
cable has
(1) a green LED which only lights if the
correct polarity power is
detected - in practise you would use this to check the power polarity
is correct before you connect the Autostar to the cable
(2) an in line diode to only allow current
flow if the correct polarity
power is connected - a belt and braces safety measure, in case you make
a mistake
(3) a fuse in the plug - standard safety
measure in case of mishap
I can also supply with this cable a
prewired female cigar lighter
socket, so you can connect the cigar lighter plug to your DC power
supply of 9V to 12V. This extra item costs just £3.
(Please note: the Autostar
and female cigar socket shown in the photo are not supplied with the
standard cigar lighter cable, they are purchased seperately)
